HAND-UP UPLIFTMENT STRATEGIES BY CRESTA

Cresta Shopping Centre is a people-powered and community-centred destination. We’re more than just a shopping destination – we’re your partner in progress. Cresta believes in a hand-up approach, by investing in initiatives that uplift and align with our ethos to provide our community with a hand-up versus a hand-out.

Every year, we make it our mission to delve deep into the community to find ways in which we can serve our hand-up upliftment programs to assist our community in levelling-up.

GROWING CHAMPIONS – NELSON MADELA DAY ACTIVATION

Growing Champions is one of the initiatives Cresta loves to stand behind because they share a similar ethos to Cresta, which is to empower the community with a hand-up versus a hand-out approach. Growing Champions is an NPO with a focus to nurture young Champions by empowering at-risk teens and children to overcome adversity by focusing on developing a key skill. Their approach combines Education, Personal Development, and Sport to empower determined youth with the tools to drive positive change within the Northcliff community.

In July 2023, Cresta welcomed two of the Growing Champions youth with an opportunity to showcase and sell their fashion garments at a busy court in the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day. Cresta not only offered the space for free but the team took these two young gentlemen under their wing teaching them how to merchandise and make the best of the opportunity. Further to hosting an in-centre activation, Cresta amplified this partnership on its socials by running a competition for Cresta fans to win garments to the value of R2,000 as well as posting a series of informative content to profile the campaign.
