Client Pareto Limited
Architect Afritects
Project Value Current estimated cost to client is R75 million
Construction Start Date February 2010, subject to confirmation
Duration February - October 2010

This multi-storey parkade is an initiative from the Landlord's owners to increase the Centre's current parking offering. Located between entrances 4 (Panarotti's) and 12 (The Breadbasket) on the eastern end of the mall, the 3-level parkade will accommodate a total of 511 vehicles at full capacity. The roof of the parkade will also be used for parking, making it the fourth parking level of the parkade.

Information regarding Cresta Shopping Centre's future enhancements have been featured on the Centre's website under About for the past 3 months. Please feel free to review this page should you wish to obtain more info.

The site of this new offering was arrived at following several considerations tabled between the architects and owners:

1. That it offers the best connectivity with the existing mall for both pedestrians and motorists coming to the mall. It will connect directly to the mall's Upper Level through a new passage link to be introduced between YDE and Identity. Another direct connection between the mall and the proposed parkade will be through the existing basement parking of the mall which is linked to the mall's Lower Level.
2. It is expected that other than just being a parking space initiative, the parkade's location will benefit the shops and restaurants in close proximity to it. Deliberately, two access ways to the parking are located near the existing entrances 4 and 12 as a way of ensuring that these entrances remain prominent.
3. The site will offer the least inconvenience to shoppers during construction when compared to the other options that were considered. Very delicate elements will be introduced in the building's design to being it in line with international trends, without being overbearing.
4. The designated lift lobbies will be bright and airy via the use of glass curtain walling and smooth finishes. Scenic lifts are used on the side near entrance 4 to cater for vertical transportation. As part of this project, two other lifts are to be installed inside the mall close to the link with the parkade for use by shoppers inside the mall connecting to the parking.

The entrance / ramp leading to entrance 11 (The Barnyard Theatre) undercover parkade will be closed for a short period of time (for temporary access to be moved to Acacia Street (service road running in front of the Keystone Office Complex). A temporary entrance supported by highly prominent directional signage will guide patrons to the undercover parkade temporary entrance.
